The Caveman is a LEGEND

I have to quickly put this out there, I have known Conrad since we were juniors, when we would arrive at a race and the transition area was a wall to lean your bike against and sometimes you rode in your running shoes with toe straps.

THE CAVEMAN IS A LEGEND

Every now and then someone comes along and redifnes teh way we see thigns and approach things. With his style of racing, to his never say die attitude, his easy going and approachable style, comes a true professional approach to the sport, his brands and fans.

And by the looks of it a BIG strong diesel engine

This guy has taken over from Legends such as Ned Overend and Scott Tinely and taken the sport to the next level. How many other athletes can you truly say have done the same?
Firs came the Scotts, they launched the sport

Scott Tinely
Scott Molina
Dave Scott

Then it went to a new level with the now Legend Mark Allen, world ITU, Nice & Hawaii champion in the same year....yes try top that

At the same time was Paula Newbie Fraser. who re wrote all IM records, MEN AND  WOMEN.

After her came the only other person to hold Hawaii adn ITU world champ title at the same time, Karen Smyers

Mostly IM athletes right

Then came Simon Lessing, dominator of athletes in ITU events before drafting came along. dominator of the FRENCH IRON TOUR, going ten days or more and never being beaten on any single day by the best athletes out there

YUP PEOPLE ON THE LOSING TEAM ALWAYS SAY THIS

Add to this list Conrad Stoltz (fondly known to friends around the world as Caveman, Gonad, Fish)  an Olympic triathlete who stubbled upon off road triathlon, fell so in love with it, that he made it his own.

In this current season, at the ripe age of 39, he is still showing the youngsters how to win, by winning his 6th US Xterra race.

The CAVEMAN is a LEGEND

Offroad racing today is what it is because of what Conrad has done. dont get me wrong "The Big Kahuna" created it and is an even bigger legend. but this man just raised the bar.

P.S............SIDE NOTE:  3 of these Legends come from a country I call home

SOUTH AFRICA
Do you know which ones?

It was a chilly weekend

This weekend proved to be THE COLD one in SA and boy am I glad I have swapped my bike and running shoes for a skipping rope.

Esrie and I hoped off the the gym on Saturday morning and I managed to get a good skipping session while she ran on the treadmill.

I personally would have preferred to stay at home and not have to go outside to get in the car and then out again to get into the gym....HAHA

I got to be honest I havent been doing anything else except skipping, which is proving hard, especially at the gym where Esrie popped off to go have a sauna while I had to sit in the coffee area and have a coffee....my one for the day.

Well, I hope all the runners in Knysna had the opportunity to make up for the weekend, I know we were disappointed  as I have been working with a very talented female athlete. She has had some below par performances over the last couple of years and we have re aligned her goals and are on the way back to greatness. She is a previous winner of the Knysna half and we making a bid on the full.

However, these things happen for a reason and we are now readjusting our goals and dreams and working towards Two Oceans Marathon next year. Being a 74min 21.1km runner, I know she has the pedigree, talent and mind to make it a success and challenge the front girls, so watch this space.

A big up to the CAVEMAN for winning his 6th US pro Xterra race of the season

Hows your weekend looking

Well hopefully the weather is better, but i am mostly happy about the weekend coming so that i can skip during daylight. I have been skipping around 6:30am and after 8pm most days and finding a place to skip inside where i dont maul a light bulb or whack a wall or chair or table, will be quite nice. I also tend to whip myslef on the back or legs and with this thick rubber rope i am feeling a little tender....
That beimg said, i am glad i am mot in Knysna to run another rain soaked race. Two Oceans was a nightmare in that cowsuit, so heres to you guys out there running this weekend and heres to me skipping in daylight outside....

I can now skip 40sec straight

Follow Me on Pinterest

Woop woop I am now up to 40 sec skipping with 20 sec rest.....Skipping is not for the faint hearted or those with sensitive toes...I think mine are bruised this morning, as I get close to the end of the 40 sec and closer to 15 min, my jumping is getting worse and my co ordination is getting slower. I keep hitting my damn toes. Yes I have shoes on.

I suppose it doesnt help that I had to skip at 10:30 last night and then again at 6:30 am this morning.

The other telling factor is that I have been on a 100% protein diet the last 3 days. This is to starve my body of carbs and simple sugars and force it to engage Keitosis (fat burning mode).  This is a significant step in my month  weight loss drive, since it serves two purposes:
1: My body uses the fat I want to lose
2: I dont get cravings that normally come with eating rubbish food, because my body has a steady flow of calories.

Its one of the main reasons endurance athletes experience dips and lows during a race, their fat burning engine is not properly being engaged and this can be for a few reasons, but mostly because their diet is wrong, they didnt train in the fat burning zones to teach their body to do it while exercising and they are not at that particular point in the race, engaging a fat burning effort level.

Teach your body to burn fat, take Omega 3 and control your moods and energy levels.

Here is what I am currently taking on a daily basis.
Omegas, multivitamins, E, C and B...............All Organic grown

The skipping Challenge has begun

Oh My word, this is tougher than I thought....

Here are 10 reasons why:
  1. Co ordination
  2. My arms are dead
  3. I keep hitting my toes with this heavy rubber rope
  4. My arms are dead
  5. Jumping up and down is tiring
  6. I keep hitting my toes with the damn rubber rope
  7. My arms....I cant feel them
  8. 15 minutes seems like a life time
  9. I dont know how to skip
  10. My arms are dead
Here is the rope I made myself, it works unbelievably well, I love the thick handles and it handles the heavy rubber rope well.....The weight of the rope makes a huge difference, it gives momentum when skipping but it strains your muscles to control it. The handles are made out of a light weight curtain rail. I was originally going to put the handles in a lathe and shape them but these are light and manage the rope very well.

The rope is quite thick here is a picture to give you an idea on how thick the rope is.

My goal was to skip for 15 minutes this morning............continuous. I quickly changed that to 20 sec intervals. 20 on and 20 off. I downloaded a smart phone app that allows me to do intervals and set it with an alarm.

haha.....15 minutes continuous skipping is ridiculously tough...............but I will make it

Take a look...

How to lose weight by eating properly

This is not a diet, nor  does it utilise any dietry pills or fads or the concept of low fat diet as these generally only work as a temporary measure and one soon returns to your original weight and in many cases people put on additional weight.
HEALTHPOINTE works by teaching the body to gradually use fat stores as energy and to stabilise weight and remain at the optimum weight for a lifetime by setting the metabolic point at the ideal weight. The weight loss is rapid and the results are lasting. The benefits are no cravings because your body knows where to get the energy from.

During the 45 day cycle of HEALTHPOINTE, men can expect to lose up to 10KG and women can expect to lose up to 7KG. The program is available as a stand alone or as a program  with coaching as an optional extra to give you that extra assurance of support during your quest to be your ideal weight
The HEALTHPOINTE PROGRAM is different to other programs;
  • Simple to follow – even when socialising
  • Never feel hungry
  • Snacking between meals
  • No drugs, no gimmicks
  • Real food in real portions
‘‘Dieters don’t fail because of willpower ( or lack of it ), they fail because of cravings. Because if you can’t control your cravings , you can’t stay on a program long enough to get the weight off’’
On the program you enjoy 3 balanced meals a day plus snacks.

Healthpointe Program includes;

  • DVD – explaining how the program works
  • Daily Journal – to record your weight and foods you consume daily
  • Food Groups , menus & calorific values
  • Tape measure – to check your progress of fat loss
  • Pedometer – to assist in the amount of activity you are actually doing
Cost of program R 500 and should be done in conjunction with a Health Risk Assessement. Payment can be via EFT and then I will send you the programme. You can Contact me anytime to get advice and help with how to get through the initial 3 days of protein only eating. ITs tough.
